Office Hours
Less than three months into his first term on the Board of Alderman, Dennis implemented Neighborhood Mobile Office Hours. The idea came from a series of Saturday morning meetings he had with community activists and concerned residents during the winter. When the spring came he decided to take the office outside and the "mobile" idea was born!
The "mobile office" concept is quite simple. On scheduled Saturdays Dennis travels to different neighborhoods and sets up a table, chair and banner. Residents are invited to come by to talk about a specific issue or just to say hello.
Since May 2004, the mobile office tour has made stops in each of the City's seven wards. Dennis has also held office hours during the winter at the Super Stop & Shop and the Main Branch Library; he has also brought along Spanish, Portuguese and Haitian Creole translators to provide translations.
Office hours are weather permitting and updates are submitted to both the Somerville News and Somerville Journal newspaper.
